Cinnamon Roll Turkeys
Looking for a fun family activity during Thanksgiving week?
I did a little research and discovered my family has been making Cinnamon Role Turkeys since 2014. My sister was living in Oregon, and I took the boys up to visit over Thanksgiving. I had found a picture of one of these on Pinterest, and thought this would be so fun for the kids. James was almost 5 and Caleb was almost 3.
Over the years, it has become a Thanksgiving morning tradition for whomever we are with. It looks like in the picture above, we didn’t have typical swirled cinnamon rolls, but more of a cinnamon bun. 😂 We made it work, though.
I’ll share the recipe below, but first a small photo album of Cinnamon Roll Turkeys from over the years.
Directions:
Bake and ice cinnamon rolls according to package directions
Cook bacon so it’s just a little bit (or a lot) crispy
Assemble the turkeys by using the gel frosting to adhere the 2 eyes, the candy corn as the beak, the pretzel sticks as the feet, and the red side of a brite crawler as the gobbler. Then fan several rashers of bacon as the tail by sticking them within the swirls of the cinnamon roll. ***You can see from the pictures above the kids have freedom to use a creative license and use pretzel sticks as the tale feathers as well. This picture from iwashyoudry.com is a good example.
Cinnamon Roll Turkeys
Ingredients:
Cinnamon Rolls-we use Grands Pillsbury
Trolli Brite Crawlers gummy worms; cut
the red/blue ones in half so you can use just the red side
cooked bacon, on the crispy side
(I’ve linked all ingredients to Walmart bc that’s where I order groceries. If you haven’t tried grocery delivery, I highly recommend!)
If you make these and post a picture, I hope you’ll tag me so I can see your creations! @theartoflivingbeautifully on Instagram.
